BPGP: Lather Bamboo Scrub

Nov 8, 2011

When I first opened the container of LATHER bamboo lemon grass foaming body scrub, I was confused.  The product looked like coffee grounds.  How was this dry, grainy product going to “lather?”

Already convinced that this product would be a failure, I almost sent it back right away.  But, given that it was already opened, I thought that I should give it a try.  After all, my skin had been feeling a bit dull and lifeless lately.

I don’t know how this product works, but the second the scrub touched the water, it started to lather.  Hmmm.  Maybe there was truth in advertising, after all?

This scrub is miraculous.  It takes only a small amount to scrub your entire body, and it leaves skin feeling impossibly smooth and looking radiant.  I only wish that I had discovered it during swimsuit season.

Unlike a lot of scrubs which dry the skin beyond all recognition, this one does not.  Obviously, I still needed to moisturize after I scrubbed, but I didn’t need to slather it on with a trowel, like I usually do.

If your skin is suffering from a case of the winter blahs or you have a beach vacation planned for the holidays (Jealous!), this is the scrub for you.  It’s not cheap at $38, but it works really well and you only need a bit to get the desired results.

If you’re on a budget, but need a good scrubbing, you can make your own.  I sometimes make the Tropical Sugar Scrub in this recipe when I have extra mango in the house.

Origins once had a dry body scrub that operated similarly– it foamed when mixed with water. The scent was clove and spice- based and I was very sad when they discontinued it. Happy to hear that there is a comparable product out there!

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.
