#BeautyReview: Lancome Miracle CC Cushion

May 24, 2016

Color correction is the hottest thing in makeup right now.  No matter your skin issue–under-eye circles, dullness, redness, etc.–there is a product to correct it.  Want to learn the basics?  The Blondeshell has the scoop on which colors correct which issues.

My concern of record is serious under-eye circles.  Because when you’re an overachieving chick, dark circles come with the membership card.

s1781160-main-heroLancome’s CC Cushion Correcting Primer comes in a pinky hue to deal with under eye circles.  The cushion  is a new-ish delivery system that gives the product an airy, light quality.  It won’t dry out skin and offers a dewy finish.

The formula is thin, almost too thin.  When I first started using the product, I hated it.  Loathed it.  Was ready to return it.  Then, I realized my mistake.

The problem wasn’t the product, it was how I was applying it.  I was trying to use my concealer brushes.  Big mistake.  This is one of the rare products that must be applied using the included sponge.  It’s design to spread out the product and gently pat it into the skin.

So put your brushes down.  Put the BeautyBlender away.  And use the included sponge.

Once I started applying the product correctly, I loved it.  I apply a light layer, then let it set for a few minutes.  Then, I apply my Maybelline Age Rewind concealer.  And set it with my new favorite setting powder from BareMinerals.  If I want to highlight the area, I add a light application of Hourglass Strobing powder.

If you apply the product correctly, it provides just enough color correction to noticeably minimize dark circles without looking heavy or cakey.  This is a huge improvement over piling on the concealer.

Need a drug store dupe?  Pixi makes a pinky-peach correcting concentrate, but it’s a heavier formula.  Mix it with an illuminating primer to thin it out and create a highlighting effect.

Loreal makes a great product that sounds similar. Nice, light coverage.

I highly recommend checking out the big Korean brands that have been making BB/CC cushions for years and are generally far cheaper (and better from reviews I’ve seen). Laneige, Innisfree, Hera, IOPE, The Face Shop, Etude House… so many brands at all price points!

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
