Two Ways: Mango Decorative Bow Skirt

Mango has the best skirts this season.  The navy decorative bow skirt above ($98) is a fantastic choice.  It has a classic look with just a hint of something extra.  I’m also loving this simple vent pencil in a pretty mauve.  And don’t miss this skirt with a pretty lace hem.  Mango’s Violeta line (sizes 8-22) also has a great high-waist pencil skirt.

Left, Tibi Amara Print Cami ($175) // Melting Sun Suede Flat Clutch ($30) // Kenneth Cole True Blues Drops ($30) // Schutz Juliana Sandals ($190)

Taking a work skirt into evening can be a challenge.  For this look, I added a summery camisole in a cool print to make this serious pencil appropriate for cocktail hour.  I also like the pairing of olive and navy for a combination that is more subdued.

Love the silk camis for evening, but want something cheaper?  This Equipment silk cami in pine green is on sale for $49.  I also like this Mango Frill-Front Cami in a pretty print for $16.

For the accessories, I wanted to keep to a more neutral palette.  These drop earrings from Kenneth Cole match the olive color in the tank.  I also like these fun beaded tassel earrings.  Prefer a bracelet?  This Design Lab cuff has a great minimalist look with a hint of olive.

The clutch and heels are in coordinating colors of brown.  These heels have been on every bloggers feet for about a year.  I own them, and they’re fairly versatile.  I chose a darker clutch because I don’t like when accessories match exactly.

For the hair, I would wear it up in a low ponytail if you have long hair, or in a loose twist if your hair is shorter.  For the makeup, keep the eyes a bit smokey but subtle in shades of brown.

Right, DKNY Bryant Park Satchel ($240) // Factory Short Sleeve Sweater ($30) // Garbo Collar Necklace ($58) // Calvin Klein Gayle Pumps ($59)

Mixing the same color in different shades is a favorite look of mine.  Instead of choosing white or grey or some other neutral, just pick a different hue in the same color family.  This Factory sweater comes in several great colors.  They also offer a cap-sleeve blouse in a variety of colors.

This Garbo collar brings in texture in an impactful way.  I also like Baublebar’s Blizzard necklace for a bit of texture and interest.  If you want color, try their Bubblestream beaded collar.

For the bag, I wanted to bring in a jolt of contrasting color.  I thought about red, of course, but this rust orange was where it was at.  It’s more unexpected and cool than the obvious red bag.  Looking for an orange bag for less?  Try Reed Krakoff’s diffusion line RK40 for a seriously chic $55 satchel.

As for the pumps, flesh-toned would have been the easy choice.  I prefer grey.  It’s a bit more sophisticated, and you don’t have to worry about trying to match your skin color.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
