The Commute: No. 1

Jan 8, 2018

Don’t compare your life to another’s.  There’s no comparing the sun and the moon, they shine when it’s their time. — Unknown

New Year, New Career. I’ve partnered with Career Contessa and a group of other fabulous people to host a 2018 giveaway.  The prizes include a career coaching session, a $1,000 Nordstrom gift card, an Apple iPad, and more.  Go Enter!!

Tidying Up in 2018. Need to declutter? Refinery29 has a list of 10 things you need to pitch into the bin.  I started with my makeup “leftovers drawer.”

Be Bold. After seeing it on CNN’s Rebecca Berg, I had to own this tomato red LK Bennett sheath dress.  The pretty little bows on the sleeves are fantastic.

When Appearances Matter. Eva Fisher stood up against a graduate adviser who was harassing her.  Her piece in the Times, How I Learned to Look Believable,” details what she wore to the myriad of hearings spanning almost a year.  Her fight continues even after an initial victory.

For Chilly Offices. The Morandi Sweater from MM. LaFleur (sizes to XXL) is the warmest cardigan ever made. I’ve worn it during every cold snap and never felt a chill.  This $75 Topshop cardigan has a similar look for less.

#FridayFitClub. I am not a morning person.  If you’re not either, HonestlyFit has tips on how to make morning workouts happen when you don’t feel up to it.

Happy Feet. I’m back in flats for workdays.  These Seychelles flats with bows and these pearl flats caught my eye. For a simple pair, these Marc Fisher flats look more expensive than their $65 price tag.

Sounds Dangerous. How would it be if women ran the world?  Gloriously toxic.

If I know that I’m staring down the barrel of an early morning, I wash my hair and use my hot rollers the night before to prepare for a morning updo.  This stylish three-bun French Twist is just one of the 50 chic options from The Right Hairstyles.  To hold it in place, DryBar’s Warden hairspray is the only way to go.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
