My Must-Have Weekend Separates

Apr 23, 2018

I’ve discussed Daily Ritual on Amazon before, but I am now officially obsessed.  I’m up to eight tops, two dresses, and three sweatshirts.  And did I mention that all of the pieces cost under-$30?  Yeah, you need these.

My weekend at-home attire has become very predictable.  Leggings, jersey top, hair done, no makeup.  This is my uniform.

Good leggings are easy to find, and for the slimming-effect of Lululemon, I’ll happily pay their extortionate prices.  But tops?  Why am I spending more for a cotton top from Athleta than I do on work blouses?  It’s absurd.  But no more.

Daily Ritual is an Amazon brand of jersey separates.  They offer misses, maternity and plus sizes.  The fabrics are thicker than most you find out there, and the styles are simple basics you can wear anywhere.  I think I’m in love.

The first top I bought from Daily Ritual was their split side long sleeve tee ($26).  It has a modern, sleek cut that flows over the body, slimming your figure without looking boxy.  I own two black ones and two gray ones because it quickly became the only thing I wanted to wear.

This striped terry pullover ($28) was my second purchase.  It’s comfortable, good for chilly-but-not-quite-cold days, and great for layering.  I wear it with jeans, under my olive utility jacket and a long necklace whenever I need to go to an outdoor spring event.

I love boatneck tops like this elbow sleeve tee ($18), but no one really makes this style anymore.  Maybe it feels a little old fashioned, but I like the look.  If Amazon made this top in a navy stripe, my life would be complete.

As for other looks that I purchased, I do have one complaint.  I bought this shirttail hem t-shirt and it’s not my favorite.  The material is great, the style is on point, but the neckline is off somehow.  It’s neither a crewneck, nor a scoop neck and it tends to sag.  Maybe it’s just not up to the standards of the other pieces, but not my favorite.

Bottom Line: I love these tops.  I bought a couple of dresses for summer, but they’re not here yet.  It’s nice to finally find a jersey top that isn’t as thin as tissue paper.  It’s also nice to find a great basic that’s affordable.  I see a lot of Daily Ritual tops in my future.

Disclosure: I found Daily Ritual because I’m an Amazon affiliate (when you buy something through an Amazon link on this site, I make a little money).  Every month, they give fashion affiliates a promo code for a free gift.  The products they’re gifting don’t usually interest me, so I skip them.  I gave DR a chance, and I’m so glad I did.  I was gifted one shirt, I’ve bought six more pieces with my own money since.

These look great Belle! One question, how are the shirts cut? On the model it looks like a straight up and down shape. As a curvey woman, I worry these shirts will be too loose in the waist and too tight in the hip and bust.

This sounds so perfect. Can you talk about sizing – how do you find it compares to other brands

I bought smalls, they’re a little big on my 4-6 frame. But a negligible amount. I purchased an XS on the second run and it’s perfect.

I have this GAP boatneck navy stripe shirt and i’m obsessed with it.
I’m 4 months pregnant, but will probably wear it when I’m not because it is so good– and there’s no tell-tale side ruching like most maternity tops.

I have an elbow-sleeve striped boatneck shirt from Fair Indigo, and I wear it at least once a week. The quality can’t be beat.

Do the shirts wrinkle easily? I’ve realized an important decision factor in shirts is that the seatbelt in the car or zipping up my jacket shouldn’t make my shirt wrinkled after it’s already been ironed.

  6. Valerie says:

Thank you for finding a great jersey boatneck tee for under-$20. My go-to has been H&M’s jersey tees, but lately the quality has gone down and some of them are see-through (not good when you’re wearing them to work!)

Also imho the boatneck tee will always be elegant and flattering, I’m with you on that, Belle…plus they can be styled so many different ways.

I started buying their pieces after your last post, and I am in love, too. Thank you for the research and tip!

I tend to be EXTREMELY hesitant about Amazon clothing… the prices seemed suspicious, and I worry about throwing money away supporting super-low-quality Asian mega online retailers where the product picture looks nothing like the result. But hey, these look like Lou & Grey and if you can attest to their quality, I’m down for it.

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
