August.  I hate August.  It’s like losing a loved one.  You can feel it slipping away, and you’re trying to cram in as many summer activities as you can before it goes, but it’s too hot to really enjoy whatever days you have left.  And before you know it, the leaves will fall, and all you will have are the memories.

But hey, even though the sky is hazy with smoke, and it’s so hot outside, I could cook an egg on my patio, let’s try to enjoy it.

This Blackberry Margarita Party Punch is one of my favorite drinks to make in batches.  I bought a beverage dispenser on Amazon, and I love it.  I also picked up some cocktail glasses with lids and straws at TJ Maxx, and they’re pretty fun too.

Not into tequila?  I also like this blackberry whiskey lemonade, but it’s a bit tougher to multiply out into larger batches.

Between sun, pool water, and my usual styling regimen, by the end of summer, my hair is like straw.  This Ouai Treatment Masque is one of the best products that I’ve ever used.  It softens, mends split ends, and prevents future damage.

My second choice treatment product is Olaplex No. 3 treatment.  The Olaplex works almost as well, but it’s a bit messier, and it’s harder to gauge how much you need to use.  However, if you have curly hair, I’m assure that the Olaplex is better because it won’t weigh curls down.

Need a drugstore options? This L’Oreal Repair Remedy Balm is a great product.  It’s also sulfate free, and a good choice for color treated hair.

I never particularly liked Hemingway’s writing, but I’m strangely fascinated by his real life.  Beautiful Exiles is the third book about Hemingway that I’ve read in the past year (Everyone Behaves Badly, Writer Sailor Soldier Spy).

The book tells the story of Hemingway’s time covering the Spanish Civil War and his love affair with war correspondent Martha Gellhorn.  It’s an interesting story, and a decent history lesson about a time that I knew little about.  A slightly heavier beach read than most, but free if you have Kindle Unlimited, which is $9.99 per month.

I like to bring a short robe with me when I travel.  At someone else’s home, it’s nice not to have to walk out of the bathroom in a towel or carry all of your clothes in their with you.  In a hotel, I prefer it to the plush robes, which are too hot in summer.

This Josie Printed Robe is an affordable $29.  I like the vibrant floral print.  I also like this dotted, satin robe from Nordstrom Rack.  Or if you’re looking for something really soft, try this Honeydew Intimates robe for $20.  Plus-size?  This simple Ava & Viv robe is a good choice.

 

At the start of summer, I purchased a pair of gold Sam Edelman sandals.  By August, they looked like they’d gone to battle on the feet of a Roman Centurion, they were that worn out.  I don’t know if they were poorly made, or if I was just doing that much walking (doubt it), but I’m almost embarrassed to wear them.

So last week, I used some store credit to grab these Kaanas Iguazu Sandals on sale, and I really like them.  They are interesting without being flashy, and they look more expensive than they are.  Between these and my beloved $25 Universal Thread slides (a great purchase), I should be good to go on end of summer footwear.
