Item of the Week: Sweater Weather

Sep 11, 2018

Yesterday, I stepped outside, and the chill hit me like a wall.  Part of me is ready for fall, but part of me will never be.  But equinox less than two weeks away, it’s time to start thinking about sweaters.

This Boden sweater is so fabulous.  I love the contrasting side stripe and the split hem.  The mix of burgundy and mauve is also fantastic.  Their contrasting v-neck sweater in ivory and orange is also sublime.

This chunky Trouve sweater in a soothing pale blue is so cozy.  It’s also under-$50.  It would make the perfect desk sweater for chilly offices.  You can also snap it up in black.  Nordstrom also has a similarly chunky sweater in cream.

I chose this Junarose plus-size sweater because I thought it was unique, and often, plus-size clothing is boring.  The colors are a lot of fun.  I also like this yellow ASOS Curve sweater with a crossover back.  And this boatneck poncho in a verdant green from Target.

The “cute sweater is a nice option for business casual attire.  This CeCe bow-neck, puff-sleeve sweater is a nice option.  This Draper James sweater another wonderful option, with a sheer yoke and flower embellishments.  For something pretty and unique, try this pearl embellished Blank NYC sweater.

The great things about wrap sweaters is that you can wear them alone or layer them over other pieces.  A wrap sweater looks great with a simple pencil skirt or over the top of a dress.  This 1901 Wrap Sweater has a chic, ballet-style to it.  This NY&Co. sweater has a more fitted style, and comes in petite sizes.  For a splurge option, try this Club Monaco Operu sweater that looks incredibly luxurious.

Wrong link for the Operu. It was worth it to search for the right one, the Operu DOES look luxurious!

Darn! I’m sweater poor right now and winter is coming! The Trouve sweater is already sold out in my size. Shoot!

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
