My 10 Best Purchases: Number Four

Oct 17, 2018

Every holiday season, I watch well-dressed women, strolling down the street, dressed to the nines, shivering like leaves.  Often, without a “cute” coat to wear, they just skip staying warm.  But what if there was a chic jacket to offer some protection from the cold nights?

Last year, I decided to buy a cape jacket.  I was looking for an alternative to the basic blazer to wear for date night, parties, etc..  I picked up this Lysse Cape Jacket ($148), and I love it.

Sometimes I put on a v-neck blouse and belt it over jeans.  It also looks great layered over this beaded pink slip dress for a chic party look.  Or try this incredible white sheath dress from Tahari (not to be missed).

Plus-size? Lysse’s jacket is available up to 2x.  Gravitas’s jacket is available in 3x.

The link to the jacket appears to be broken. -ST-

I’m normally anti-cape, but this is really cute and practical too! It has just the right amount of drama without being, what I perceive as, too much.

Absolutely love this piece. Saving for it now…I’ve been looking for something that works just as nicely with casual outfits as with professional attire, now that I’m finally applying for jobs with a dress code that isn’t grad school chic (aka anything goes, ha).

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
